Joe Soto To Take on TJ Dillashaw on Short Notice

In a stunning turn of events, former Bantamweight champion Renan Barao has been forced to pull out of his UFC 177 main event bout against TJ Dillashaw after reportedly passing out while cutting weight.

Joe Soto, who has never fought in the UFC and was originally supposed to take on Anthony Birchak on the UFC 177 undercard, has now been elevated to the main event and will take on TJ Dillashaw.

Renan Barao, who is known for his very aggressive weight cuts, is now resting in a Sacramento hospital. UFC President Dana White, who was obviously stunned by the turn of events, has said that Barao will not be getting an immediate title shot upon his return.

Prior to today's turn of events, people were already proclaiming that UFC 177 was one of the promotion's worst PPV line-ups of all time.

In addition to Barao's health scare, numerous other undercard fights, including Scott Jorgensen vs Henry Cejudo and Ruslan Magomedov vs Richard Odoms, were also cancelled in recent days. This leaves the undercard with just THREE fights - Chris Wade vs Cain Carrizosa, Ruan Potts vs Anthony Hamilton and Lorenz Larkin vs Derek Brunson. It will be interesting to see how the UFC fills three hours of undercard action with just three fights.

The main card, which has also been decimated by injury, now looks like this:

TJ Dillashaw vs Joe Soto
Tony Ferguson vs Danny Castillo
Bethe Correia vs Shayna Baszler
Ramsey Nijem vs Carlos Diego Ferreira
Yancy Medeiros vs Damon Jackson

This may end up being the lowest selling PPV of the Zuffa era. Aside from Dillashaw, there are no names that would stand out to casual fans on this card. In addition, the main event is likely to be a squash match as Dillashaw should run through Soto.

What a disaster!
