Miesha Tate "Shocked" To Learn That She Won't Get Title Fight

Earlier today, the UFC shocked many when they revealed that Ronda Rousey will be making her next title defense against Holly Holm at UFC 195.

The public had been working under the assumption that Miesha Tate would be getting the next shot at the Women's Bantamweight title. After all, Tate recently won a #1 contender's elimination fight and was basically promised a third shot at Ronda Rousey.

Things took a U-turn, however, when Dana White and the UFC revealed that Holly Holm, and not Miesha Tate, would be getting the next shot at the title. Miesha Tate and her management team were floored by the news, as Tate had apparently already started training for the Rousey fight. According to Tate and her team, they were never informed about the UFC's change in plans.

With this change in plans, Tate's likely next opponent will either be Amanda Nunes or Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino, provided that "Cyborg" can make the weight.

The UFC justified their decision by saying that the Rousey/Tate fight has already been done twice (which is true) and that the public wants to see Rousey fight fresh faces. It's still an interesting change of face, however, as the Tate/Rousey fight would have likely done more business than a Rousey/Holm fight. In any event, the UFC has made the Rousey/Holm fight, much to the chagrin of many UFC fans. After all, aside from "Cyborg", Miesha Tate is clearly the toughest opponent for Ronda Rousey at this time.

UFC 195: Rousey vs Holm will be taking place on January 2nd, 2016.

The co-main event for this card will see Joanna Jedrzejczyk defend her Women's Strawweight title against Claudia Gadelha.
