Robbie Lawler vs Carlos Condit Removed Due To Injury

UFC 193, which is set to take place at the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia, has a new main event.

Last night during an appearance on Sportscenter, UFC President Dana White announced that the previous main event of Robbie Lawler vs Carlos Condit had been pulled due to an injury to the champion's thumb. In its place? A Women's Bantamweight title fight between "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm.

The UFC has said that they want to set a new attendance record at UFC 193, as Etihad Stadium can hold in excess of 60,000 people for a UFC event. The addition of Ronda Rousey to the card, who is currently the UFC's biggest star, should help the company cement a new record. The current record is held by UFC 129 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Ronda Rousey was originally slated to defend her title against Holly Holm at UFC 195 in January. After the injury to Robbie Lawler, however, the UFC made the move to put Rousey on the UFC 193 card. This is a smart move for the company, as a new attendance record for the company in a country like Australia is going to be nothing but good press.

The UFC 193 main card now looks something like this:

Ronda Rousey vs Holly Holm
Mark Hunt vs Antonio Silva
Michael Bisping vs Robert Whittaker
Jake Matthews vs Akbarh Arreola
Kyle Noke vs Peter Sobotta

Don't be surprised if another big fight is added to this card.

Ronda Rousey has opened as a huge favourite over Holly Holm. While Holm is an exceptional striker, she doesn't offer the champion much when it comes to grappling and a ground game, which is why most people expect that Rousey will easily breeze through this fight.
