According to multiple media reports, the UFC is currently targeting Rory MacDonald vs Tyron Woodley for UFC 174, which is set to take place on June 14th in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

This fight makes sense for a number of reasons, including:

1. Rory MacDonald was born in British Columbia and would obviously help the event draw people from the area

2. Johny Hendricks is currently on the sidelines with a bicep injury, and MacDonald vs Woodley will allow the UFC to determine a clear #1 contender in the interim.

Both MacDonald and Woodley can make cases for being deserving of the next title shot, so why not have them fight while Hendricks recovers from his surgery? The winner of MacDonald/Woodley would then be the CLEAR #1 contender, and you could set up a title fight between Hendricks and the winner of MacDonald/Woodley in the spring or winter.

Rory MacDonald is coming off an impressive come-from-behind victory over Demian Maia at UFC 170, while Woodley recently defeated Carlos Condit via second round injury TKO.

MacDonald cost himself a title shot when he lost to Robbie Lawler at UFC 167, but Rory was able to quickly right the ship against a very tough Demian Maia. Can MacDonald earn himself a shot at the Welterweight title with a win over Tyron Woodley?
