Junior dos Santos To Get Next Heavyweight Title Shot

According to Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com, UFC Heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic is set to next defend his title against Junior dos Santos in the main event of UFC 211, which will take place on May 11th in Dallas, Texas.

Junior dos Santos defeated Stipe Miocic in December of 2014 in what is regarded as one of the best Heavyweight fights of all time. Many people felt as though Miocic actually won that fight, so he will get his chance at revenge on May 13th.

Since losing that fight, Miocic has compiled an impressive list of wins, including victories over Mark Hunt, Andrei Arlovski, Fabricio Werdum and Alistair Overeem. Miocic's most recent victory came against Alistair Overeem in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio.

Junior dos Santos, on the other hand, is coming off of an unanimous decision victory over Ben Rothwell in April.

The King is texting on his golden phone with a straight face. The topic is the heavyweight division of the UFC.

Junior dos Santos is the beneficiary of some pretty good timing, as Fabricio Werdum is coming off of a very lacklustre victory over Travis Browne, while Cain Velasquez continues to battle injury issues. If Velasquez was healthy, there is practically no chance that Junior dos Santos would be getting the title shot right now.

Junior dos Santos is a former Heavyweight champion, however, who employs a very fan-friendly style and is one of the more likeable fighters in the UFC. Dos Santos vs Miocic promises to be an absolute slugfest, and fans in Dallas are in for a treat if this fight does come to fruition.

There is a possibility that a dos Santos victory could set up a potential fourth fight between him and Cain Velasquez, though we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
