McGregor, Lesnar News Dominates Headlines at UFC 199

The UFC received a piece of very good business news on Saturday night when Michael "The Count" Bisping won the Middleweight title.

The UFC has wanted to expand meaningfully into the European market for a long while now, and Bisping's victory is big news in the United Kingdom. There is a very good chance that Bisping makes his first title defense in England, which would obviously do some very big business.

In addition, the UFC announced two huge pieces of news during the UFC 199 broadcast:

1) Conor McGregor vs Nate Diaz 2 has been made official for UFC 202 in August

2) Brock Lesnar will be returning at UFC 200 against a yet-to-be-named opponent

The addition of Brock Lesnar to UFC 200 will likely add at least 500k-1 million buys to a card that was already stacked. Lesnar, who last fought in the UFC in 2011, is a mega-star who is currently working for the WWE. Lesnar is one of the biggest draws that the UFC has ever had, and his addition to UFC 200 makes the card a blockbuster.

On top of that, UFC 202 will feature McGregor vs Diaz 2 as the headliner. It's tough to imagine that this fight could possibly be bigger than the first, though it is certainly looking that way. Can McGregor rebound? Can Diaz win again? How will McGregor react after being choked out by Diaz at UFC 196? This should draw the PPV buys as well.

In addition, there is a rumor that CM Punk vs Mickey Gall will also be added to UFC 202, which should help to boost the PPV buy rate as well.

The MMA King is leaning back in his chair satisfied with the way UFC 200 and UFC 202 events are shaping up

All in all, this was a massive weekend for the UFC and their business going forward. By all indications, 2016 should be an even bigger year than 2015, especially if Ronda Rousey ends up making her return at MSG later this year.
