Kennedy vs Romero May Serve as Co-Main Event

UFC 178, which will feature a rematch between Alexander Gustafsson and Jon "Bones" Jones in the main event, is starting to fill up.

The aforementioned Jones vs Gustafsson II fight will obviously be serving as the card's main attract, but the UFC inked the likely co-main event earlier today when they announced that Tim Kennedy will be taking on Yoel Romero.

Tim Kennedy is currently riding a four fight winning streak that extends back to his time in Strikeforce. Since entering the UFC, Kennedy has gone a perfect 3-0, posting wins over Roger Gracie, Rafael Natal and Michael "The Count" Bisping. A win over Yoel Romero would vault Kennedy even closer to title contender status.

Yoel Romero is also on a four fight winning streak, having notched wins over Brad Tavares, Derek Brunson, Ronny Markes and Clifford Starks. Romero's lone career loss came at the hands of Rafael Cavalcante in Strikeforce.

This should be a great fight between two of the Middleweight division's fastest rising talents. Somebody's winning streak will have to give way on September 27th - will Kennedy and his unbelievable cardio and work ethic come out on top, or will Romero be able to defeat Kennedy using his strong wrestling base?
