PPV Set For November 2nd

The MMA world voiced a collective "Ummmm.. what?" on Wednesday night after it was revealed that Tito Ortiz would be squaring off against Quinton "Rampage" Jackson in the very first Bellator PPV, which is set to take place on November 2nd.

This will be the promotion's first foray into the world of PPV, and they are hoping to attract attention by pitting two former UFC Light Heavyweight champions against each other. Both Ortiz and Jackson left on bad terms from the UFC, and both fighters will be making their Bellator debuts on November 2nd.

Bellator is clearly looking to capitalize on the names of Ortiz and Jackson, as both fighters are currently in the midst of long downswings. "Rampage" has lost his last three fights in a row, while Ortiz has dropped six of his last seven. Tito's lone victory since October of 2006 was a submission victory over Ryan Bader at UFC 132.

It will be interesting to see how Bellator's first PPV does, as it is sandwiched between a number of very big UFC cards and boxing fights. Bellator has the marketing might of Viacom behind it, but succeeding in the world of PPV is a very tough proposition.

You can expect Bellator to absolutely stack this card - expect more fight announcements in the near future.

One more note - there were rumors of a Roy Jones, Jr. vs "Rampage" boxing match taking place on this PPV, but that fight apparently ended up falling apart.

Here is the fight announcement:
