Cain Velasquez To Square Off Against Fabricio Werdum in Main Event

The UFC's first ever trip to Mexico City will be taking place at UFC 180 on November 15th.

UFC Heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez will be making his long-awaited return to the Octagon in the main event of the card when he takes on Fabricio Werdum. Velasquez is a substantial favourite to win thanks to his strong wrestling and ridiculous workrate, though Werdum is not an easy out and may give Velasquez fits with his incredible BJJ and much improved striking. In addition, Velasquez will have to contend with a couple of other important factors including potential ring rust and the pressure of fighting in front of a very partisan crowd. This should be an incredible fight and is obviously the perfect main event for the UFC's first trip to Mexico.

The rest of the main card for UFC 180 looks like this:

Kelvin Gastelum vs Jake Ellenberger
Diego Sanchez vs Norman Parke
Ricardo Lamas vs Dennis Bermudez
Erik Perez vs Marcus Brimage

There are a number of outstanding fights on the main card of this event, though Ricardo Lamas vs Dennis Burmudez really stands out to me. Gastelum vs Ellenberger, which should serve as the co-main event, should be very interesting as well, as Gastelum is undefeated as a professional while Ellenberger is looking to rebound following two straight losses (Lawler, MacDonald).

In addition, Diego Sanchez will likely get involved in yet another slugfest when he does battle against Norman Parke. Sanchez has expressed interest in fighting on this card for months, so you can be sure that he will want to put on a show in front of his Mexican supporters. It will be interesting to see if Parke lets himself get drawn into Diego's fight or if he will try to play his own game.

This should be an excellent card and the Mexican fans in attendance are in for a treat. This should be fun.
