Event To Be Held at Melbourne's Etihad Stadium

Earlier today, the UFC revealed that UFC 193, which is set to take place in Melbourne, Australia, will be held at Melbourne's Etihad Stadium.

According to UFC President Dana White, the promotion is hoping to fill the 70,000 seat stadium. The record for the single largest attendance at a UFC event is currently held by UFC 129 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, which witnessed Georges St. Pierre successfully defend his Welterweight title against Jake Shields.

The UFC points to the strength of the Australian market as the reason why they are looking to host such a big show in the country. Many people felt as though Ireland or Brazil would get the next stadium show, but it appears as though that honour is going to go to Melbourne and the Etihad Stadium.

UFC 193 is quickly rounding into form.

The main event of the card will see "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler defend his title against Carlos "The Natural Born Killer" Condit. These two men are known for their ultra-violent and supremely aggressive fighting styles, which makes this fight the perfect one to headline an Australian stadium show.

The likely co-main event will see Mark Hunt and Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva square off once again. Hunt and Silva put on a fight for the ages in their first battle, and it will be interesting to see which of these two ageing legends ends up notching the win.

The rest of the card currently looks like this:

Michael Bisping vs Robert Whittaker
Jake Matthews vs Akbarh Arreola
Kyle Noke vs Peter Sobotta
Gian Villante vs Anthony Perosh
Daniel Kelly vs Ricardo Abreu
Richard Walsh vs Steve Kennedy

The UFC is setting up to have an absolutely huge fourth quarter of 2015, as UFC 194: McGregor vs Aldo is set to take place in December.
