What is the plan for Chael Sonnen?

According to reports, Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva was being considered for the co-main event of UFC 167. According to UFC President Dana White, Silva had reportedly requested PPV points to take the fight, and that demand was causing a slowdown in negotiations.

In the past couple of days, Sonnen has publicly commented that he didn't think that the Silva fight was going to happen, and that he was now looking elsewhere.

In addition, Dana White mentioned last night that Wanderlei Silva wasn't even training yet as he was still dealing with an injury.

According to Dana White, Chael Sonnen's next opponent may very well be Phil Davis. This fight is reportedly being considered for UFC 167: St. Pierre vs Hendricks, which is the UFC's 20th anniversary show.

Phil Davis is currently in the midst of a three fight winning streak that includes wins over Lyoto Machida, Vinny Magalhaes and Wagner Prado.

Chael Sonnen, on the other hand, is looking to build off of the momentum of an impressive first round submission victory over Mauricio "Shogun" Rua earlier in the month.

Chael Sonnen vs Phil Davis would be an interesting fight, as both fighters possess strong wrestling and decent submission skills.
