UFC and Diaz Fail To Reach Agreement on Fight

According to reports, the UFC was hoping to announce late last week that a rematch had been signed between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz, with the fight rumored to take place at UFC 202 in August.

Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta flew to Beverly Hills to have a lunch meeting with Featherweight champion Conor McGregor. According to McGregor and the UFC, the meeting went well and the two sides are back on good terms after a blow-up that resulted in McGregor being pulled from UFC 200.

After hearing that the UFC was meeting with McGregor, Diaz and his agent reportedly requested a meeting with White and Fertitta in Stockton, California. This meeting did not go so well, with Dana White reportedly leaving the meeting in a huff. One can only assume that when the topic of money came up, Diaz and his manager asked for a great sum, leading White to explode and leave the lunch meeting prematurely.

MMA King is deep in thought. The latest attempt by the UFC to put the Diaz vs. McGregor fight has hit another bump on the road.

While it is obviously important that Diaz and his manager negotiate the best deal possible, it is also important to remember that there are any number of fighters who would salivate at a chance to fight Conor McGregor.

Diaz will surely never get another chance for such a rich purse, and given the history between the Diaz brothers and the UFC, it seems fairly likely that the UFC could quickly make the decision to turf a Diaz/McGregor rematch if negotiations with Nate's team don't go well.

Conor McGregor is reportedly obsessed with the idea of fighting Diaz again and is on board with the fight - will Diaz and his side be able to work out a deal with the UFC as well?
