Winner of Werdum vs Browne To Get Title Shot

There will be plenty on the line on this weekend in Orlando, Florida when Travis Browne takes on Fabricio Werdum in the main event of UFC on Fox: Werdum vs Browne.

According to UFC President Dana White, the winner of Browne vs Werdum is not only guaranteed a title shot, but they will also be fighting in the main event of the UFC's first ever event in Mexico. With Cain Velasquez headlining the card, the UFC has decided that the time is right for the promotion to make their first foray into Mexico. This has been a long time coming as Mexico and its people are crazy about combat sports. The UFC has been waiting for the perfect time to head to Mexico and a Velasquez vs Browne/Werdum main event will be the perfect opportunity to do so.

Cain Velasquez is currently on the shelf right now following successful shoulder surgery. The champ is expected to return to the Octagon in late 2014 / early 2015.

Travis Browne is currently a -225 favorite to win on Saturday, thanks, in large part, to his devastating striking. Browne, as shown in his fight against Alistair Overeem, is capable of knocking people out with his fists, feet and elbows.

Fabricio Werdum, on the other hand, is one of the best grapplers in all of the UFC. Will Werdum be able to get Browne to the ground? That is one of the biggest questions of this fight. Werdum may employ the same strategy with Browne that he (unsuccessfully) used against Alistair Overeem in Strikeforce - sit on the ground and hope that Browne comes to him. Overeem didn't fall for that trap and there is practically no way that Browne will as well.

Travis Browne is currently on a three fight winning streak (Barnett, Overeem, Gonzaga). All of Browne's last five fights have ended in the first round.

Fabricio Werdum is also on a three fight winning streak, having notched victories over Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Mike Russow and Roy Nelson.

This should be an excellent fight.
