Lack of Obvious Opponents for Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic

In the main event of UFC 211 last evening, Heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic destroyed Junior dos Santos to retain his Heavyweight title. Miocic's reign as a champion now includes wins over Fabricio Werdum, Alistair Overeem and Junior dos Santos.

The problem that the UFC now has is that there are no obvious opponents for Miocic on the horizon.

Let's look at the Heavyweight rankings as of this moment:

C - Miocic
#1 - Fabricio Werdum
#2 - Cain Velasquez
#3 - Alistair Overeem
#4 - Junior dos Santos
#5 - Francis Ngannou

Now, Werdum and Overeem are squaring off at UFC 213 in July, and the winner of that fight will likely get the next title shot, at least according to the rankings.

Does Miocic/Werdum or Miocic/Overeem really excite fans though? Miocic has already beaten both men via first round KO, though he was quite close to losing to Alistair Overeem. Can the UFC sell us on a rematch against either of these men?

Cain Velasquez would be an interesting choice though he is plagued by injury issues. Will Velasquez fight again? It's a serious question to be asking at this point.

Francis Ngannou is apparently set to fight somebody at UFC 214 - could a strong performance by the much-hyped Ngannou earn him a shot at the title? If the winner of Overeem/Werdum underwhelms, this may end up being the case.

The Heavyweight division is notoriously shallow, and the UFC is going to have some work to do to sell Miocic's next title defence.
